Who is the AKLS™ Ankle System designed for?

Who is the AKLS™ Ankle System designed for?

• Athletes recovering from ankle sprains
• Individuals with chronic ankle instability
• Anyone transitioning out of a walking boot after fracture or surgery
• Patients moving from physiotherapy to independent strengthening
• Anyone tired of ankles that keep rolling or feeling unstable

What size shoe does AKLS fit?

The AKLS harness is one size fits most. It will fit from a women’s size 6 on the small side to a men’s size 13 on the large side.

Pro tip: Wearing a more high profile shoe on smaller shoe sizes and a more low profile shoe on larger shoe sizes can provide for a better fit.

Is the AKLS™ Ankle System safe?

We’ve tested AKLS in clinical and sport settings and sold them to healthcare professionals who use AKLS regularly with their patients. If you are seeing a physical therapist, chiropractor or medical doctor, you should speak to them as they can share more on your condition. The type of exercise that you get with AKLS can be tailored to your personal needs. Strengthening your ankle this way is not a new concept, but AKLS is a smarter, easier way of getting results. Overall, AKLS is a safe and progressive way to improve strength and range of motion.

How do I know if my AKLS™ harness is positioned correctly?

The forefoot strap should be around the widest part of your shoe at the ball of your foot. The middle D-ring should be centred at the bottom of your foot and the two side D-rings should be an equal distance from the centre of your foot.

How many levels of resistance does AKLS come with?

Your AKLS™ ankle system comes complete with everything you need to strengthen the main movements of the ankle. Each kit contains all 4 levels of resistance bands as follows: light grey (level 1), light blue (level 2), dark blue (level 3) and black (level 4).

Pro tip: Although not generally needed, if for any reason you require more resistance than the black band can provide, you can add another band in combination, providing up to an additional 4 levels of resistance.

How much space do I need to set up my AKLS™ ankle system?

It typically requires a small space of 8 feet by 8 feet around the anchor point to properly target all movements using the AKLS. The required space will vary between individuals depending on the user’s height and leg length.
